Interesting question btw. The "starting point" is when the The Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington D.C prints and mass produces the money. After they produced it, it's delivered to the Federal Reserve System, which operates as the nation's central bank and works to make sure that good amounts of money are intact. This is what happens to my knowledge. You should try and check yourself, but I'm happy to have helped.
