Which classic anime deserves to be remade?

I understand that remaking old animes will resurface it's epicness, but I just have a constant fear that remaking classics will either destroy the series or create something that has nothing to do with the original story. What I do support is if they refine or "touch up" the animation and then re-release it with better picture quality. That would at least cause some kind of a ruckus. The only anime I might consider "not remaking" but making a live action movie would be Akira. That's ONLY if they can keep the fururisitc laser scooters and the original epicness.
