I have been scammed on ebay do you think i could be compensated for my loss?

I recently "sold" an item on ebay..I received multiple emails from paypal telling me that the money had been deducted from the buyers paypal account, they were just waiting to receive the tracking number before they could release it into my account..it has been only a day since ive sent the item, I , and I have yet to receive any money. i have called the police do u think they will sort it out? bcause i have loss �250.00
