What's the real reason for disliking 'ginger' hair?

I was a real carrot top when I was younger. Now it's a dark red/ brown, but until it started to change in my early teens, I did often get teased about it. It never really bothered me, but i've been very nostalgic today for whatever reason, so i'm just wondering- What is actually wrong with ginger hair?
